The admin, me, was born in 1977 and given the name Michael to accommodate the last name Gormley. In the middle there was a Joseph but in the end was added a Jr. If you really want to know my confirmation name is James. Through the years I have been come a decent gamer, a windows system admin, a fledgling world traveler, and a husband.
I have been in the IT industry since 1996, starting in the lowest levels of helpdesk support on Windows 95 and NT 4 desktops, working my way up to a server admin supporting 50+ servers of various Microsoft operating systems and a user community of 100+… all by myself. Now I am moving forward yet again, this time a pure server admin... "Goodbye Helpdesk!" Does it sound like I am toting my horn? I think it I may just be doing that. Sorry, I shall now change the subject a bit.
- On Aug 20th, 1999 I met a woman
- On May 29th, 2005 I married that woman
Her name is Honore and she is the single most incredible woman I have ever met. Honore is a nurse practitioner, ivy league schooled, and absolutely beautiful. The most amazing thing about her is that she tolerates me, loves me, and decided to become my wife.
Back to me! I am a rabid football fan and deeply enjoy the game of baseball. Both my teams I was born to love, passed down by my father. Those teams are the NY Giants and the NY Yankees. I never really got into hockey or basketball, but I will watch the playoffs and the NCAA tourney fairly religiously each year. My love of football manifested itself into an Xbox league that I help co-found. A bunch of my buddies and I play each other in a battle of wits. Season 1 ended with me as the first ever champ of the BRFL winning the single greatest game I have every played, a 6 – 3 victory over the BRFL commissioner. Season 2 is over and I dominated that year, going 13 and 1 in the regular season... but lost in the playoffs to the one man that beat me in the regular season. So on this site I go by various nick-names, all me, the same person of many hats. - Web Master Mike (General Admin Title)
- Web Husband Mike (Life Admin Title)
You will notice an "@ the pink cube" after some of the titles. When you see the @ that means I wrote what ever bit at work. When I went on my honeymoon my coworkers pranked me by replacing everything in my cube with a pink version. You can visit see images of my pinked cube in the gallery under the title, Project Pink. So that is me. The deal with MySpaceBerg Most people ask “what is the deal with the name MySpaceBerg”? The concept of a “Spaceberg” came to me one day while online reading about the game Starship Titanic. I asked myself a few simple questions. - Is there ice in space?
- Could ice is space be strong enough to destroy a star ship?
- What would you call this ice space debris?
That is when I came up with the theory of icebergs in space, shortened to spacebergs. With this wonderful theory thought out I began to do some research. Come to find out that comets can be made of frozen water. Definition of a Comet A comet is a small astronomical object similar to an asteroid but composed largely of ice. Comets typically move in highly elliptical orbits, the aphelia of which may be many times more distant than Pluto's orbit. Often described as "dirty snowballs", comets are composed largely of frozen carbon dioxide, methane and water with dust and various mineral aggregates mixed in. With my first question answered, I then moved on to could this giant ball of ice destroy a spaceship. The answer is simply yes. The mass and speed of a comet could easily wreck a planet let along a ship. As I said before, ice in space equals spaceberg… the third question. Now I am having issues finding information on giant masses of ice in space outside the concept of a comet, but the theory is sound. 1 year passed… After running various websites hosted by friends, free hosting places, and various colleges/universities I decided to branch out. After a few days of thinking what would my new domain be called? I then remembered my theory of spacebergs… SOLD! I went to register my domain and spaceberg.com was available. There sitting in the list of “alternate domain names” was myspaceberg.com. I was hooked, the my just made it stand out. I bought the domain 3 years ago and ran various different sites until I found mambo, and my life was made easier. So that is MySpaceBerg.
