There and back again… a nerd’s tale!

San FranHonore and I returned from San Francisco (visited Palo Alto and Santa Cruz as well) after a fantastic trip.  We flew in on Thursday, picked up the rental car (a decent ride, 2006 Pontiac G6), and drove too Palo Alto where my wife’s Aunt Holly lives.  We started the next morning with a quick half-day down in Santa Cruz.  I finally saw the great Pacific Ocean, sea lions, and the amusement park featured in the cult film The Lost Boys staring Keifer Sutherland.

That night that we took the CAL-Train into San Fran where we hooked up with my buddy Shawn.  After a great dinner at a posh Irish restaurant called “The Holy Grail” we hit a few of his favorite local bars.  The next morning he drove us down to the Golden Gate Bridge, which we sort of got a look at.  The fog was nuts; we couldn’t see 30 feet in frount of us!  From there he drove us down the ultra-mega-super-crazy-windy Lombard Street.  We pretty much ended our excursion with Shawny at the In-N-Out Burger… and fast food joint I always wanted to go to since I saw the movie the Big Lebowski.

On the Golden GateAfterwards we returned to Palo Alto.  Needless to say P.A. is a very interesting place… the homes are absolutely beautiful.  Holly gave us a great quick tour of the area seeing homes of the “Rich and Famous” and Stanford university.  Here is a quick list of the homes we saw…

  • Steven Young, Hall of Fame QB and Super Bowl Champion of the 49ers
  • Steve Jobs, Co-Founder and CEO of Apple and Pixar
  • CEO of the former .COM of Excite
  • CEO of NVIDIA (graphic card company which I happen to use)
  • Rodan’s celebrated statue/door known as the Gates of Hell

The next morning we drove into the city of San Francisco and got “a bit” stuck in the gay pride parade.  Eventually we were able to circumvent the parade and arrive at Pier 29 where we parked the G6.  Honore and I on the Golden GateWe walked up to Fisherman’s Warf  and had a blast.  We took the tour of Alcatraz which was fantastic.  After that we took the trolley (had to do that at least once) to China Town.  After a bit of window shopping we walked back to Pier 29, hopped into the car, and drove back to Palo Alto.

The next day I got on a flight back to Hartford (passing through Vegas and Baltimore… what a nightmare after being four hours delayed because of severe thundershowers on the east coast).  Honore went off to her conference and returned on Thursday.

I have posted a whole new section in the Gallery entitled “Vacation to San Francisco”.  Take a look at the sites we saw (or in the case of the Golden Gate Bridge, didn’t see).

I leave you on this from the Big Lebowski about the In-N-Out Burger... "Those are good burgers, Walter!"

Evil Eye and happy Dad’s Day!

Dad's New ShadesIt was father’s day last weekend, and Honore and I picked up a nice pair of Ray Ban sun glasses for him.  They looked really good on him.  That is them on the right.  I also picked up Matt (home page) a “build your own six-pack” for his first ever father’s day as well.

Now let’s go over something that I also find ridiculous.  Paris Hilton did a striptease for N.Y. Knick David Lee, Eli Manning and a bunch of other N.Y. Giants.  This just after she almost got into a fight with Lindsay Lohan.  Hey Eli if you know what is good for you, stay away from a girl who has slept with more men then Jenna Jamison and Traci Lords Evil Eye Is Watching You!combined.  I hope you wore protection when she gave that strip tease… a six inch think piece of bullet proof glass between ya should have done it.

Well I got sick, somehow I ended up with pink eye (as seen on the left) and a bilateral middle ear infection (that’s a ear infection in both ears).  Even though I am almost recovered I partly deaf now until this thing clears up.  The eye is fine (cheer) but the ears will be like this for a few more days.  Perfect timing for on Thursday I am going to hop on an airplane for San Fran!  I am sure Shawn and I going to hit the town!I won’t bee in too much serious pain from the pressure change.  Absolutely wonderful!

Well I digress.  I am really pumped up to go to San Francisco (I mentioned this last post).  Both my father and father-in-law gave us a long list of cool things to visit and see while we are out there.  I know that there is no way we will get to do all of it, honestly, Honore and I don’t have much of an itinerary planned at this point.  We will have to see what Shawn (home page) and her Aunt have for us to do.

My next post should be after I return from San Fran, along with some new images in the gallery to boot!

I leave you on this... "If you're going to San Fran-Cis-Co!"

Lots of stuff going down...

Okay let’s break this down; it has been well over a month since my last update.  The following events have occurred and are listed probably not in chronological order.

Baby NadiaWelcome Nadia!  Colynda gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Nadia.  Both mother and daughter are doing great… and Matt is a proud papa!  That is her on the left there.  If you want to check out more images of this child you can click here to go to Brainstar.net, Matt’s homepage and go to the Gallery.

My sister Anne has just graduated from my old former employer Southern Connecticut State University with not one but two Masters Degrees.  Congratulations Anne, I am really proud of you.

The GUG football season ended poorly for me.  There are a lot of good players but I still finished the season 5-4.  I know I let my Giants down, I am sorry boys.  That is all I can say about that, the pain is too great.

Speaking of the Giants, I still question their number one draft pick Mathias Kiwanuka a defensive end from Boston College.  With Strahan, Tuck, and Osi; was another DE really important?  But that is why GM Ernie Accorsi makes the big bucks and I am just in IT, Ernie knows best.  I love their second round pick, Sinorice Moss, WR from “The U” (that’s the University of Miami).  Their later picks also filled some need in the secondary and D-Line as well.  However with theirSincorice Moss pick ups in free agency (now with a solid number two tight end in Boo Williams just added today... click here for article), I like the over all make up of the team and I think we will do well.

Here is there draft round by round…

Still on the football kick, my buddy Mike is planning the “Ultimate Mega Football Trip Man Fest Excursion” and Honore (once again I have the greatest wife ever) has agreed that I can go.  We will go Phil go!be flying to Detroit on a Friday night.  From their we will head up to the home of the Michigan State Spartans to see my “college” boys, the amazing University of Notre Dame play against the Spartans!  I am really stoked about that, I always wanted to see a ND game and to see the Amazing Quinn in action will rock.  That is on Saturday night.  Sunday afternoon we will travel to Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions to see my Wife’s favorite player Brett Favre of the Green Bay PackersBrady Quinn and Brett Favre in the same weekend… a football fan’s dream come true!

Almost lastly I will be going on vacation on the 22nd, hitting the west coast for the first time in my life.  Honore and I will be visiting her Aunt in Palo Alto and my buddy Shawn (his homepage) in San Francisco.  I have only seen Shawn once since my wedding (he was one of the groomsmen) so I am really pumped up!  I know he is going to show us a great time.  Super Bowl XL RingSan Fran will be packed though, it just so happens that at the same time we are there the "Gay Pride" parade will be going on.

Ulish got the Super Bowl XL ring… I can’t wait to see it but here is a photo on the right.  The ring features the five Vince Lombardi trophies the team won in diamonds, with Super Bowl XL in the middle. The score of the game is on one side with the Super Bowl XL logo. The other side features the player's name and number and the NFL logo.  For more information click here to go to the article on it at the Steelers website.

Some more site uploads in the download sections

  • Log – The classic Ren and Stimpy fake toy commercial.  (Humor Stuff \ Commercials)
  • Wide Right – Animated GIF of the missed Scott Norwood field goal that won the Giants second super bowl. (Football Section)
  • McConky’s TD – Another animated GIF of Giants former wide out Phil McConky’s TD catch in Super Bowl XXV. (Football Section)

NFL Draft Weekend

Marc Bavaro vs. EverybodySo it is 71st NFL Draft weekend and I will be heading over my buddy Mike's (AKA Teen Girl Squad) house to watch.  My Giants have done very well in the last two years with free agency so the draft is wide open for them.  They, unlike other teams have the ability to take the best athlete in the draft with the 25th pick.  Of course the gems are in the later round like my man Mark Bavaro (see on left), a 4th round pick TE from Notre Dame.

I would love to get Bobby Carpenter, LB from Ohio State even with the edition of LaVar ArringtonPierce, LA, and Bobby would round out a nasty core!  However I don't think they will do that and rumor is they are looking to get a wide out.  This makes sense, they need a super fast guy (who can stay healthy unlike Tim Carter) who can stretch the field and one day fill Amani's shoes as number two.

Honore and I have begun to plan our trip to San Francisco.  Looks like we wil be flying out on Thursday June 22nd, and I will return on that Monday.  Honore is going to be there for a conference, so she will stay a few additional days.  I can't wait to see my boy Shawn again (whom I have seen only once since my wedding).

In other news I uploaded two new clips.  The first is a funny Mr T commercial (in the Mr T section) and the second is the SportCenter classic Randy Johnson vs. Bird (can be viewed here).

I leave you on this... "The New York Giants are now on the clock!

Ick what a hit, and Happy Easter!

GUGSo I am 2 and 2 in the GUG Football league, but I should have been 3 and 1 (that is what happens when you have 5 turnovers).  I lost my first two games but have rebounded well with 35 to 21 and 49 to 24 victories.  I have my week 4 game this week and I hope to get above 500!

LT was a monster! I got a link from a friend and saw a major piece of G-men history for the first time today, the clip of Lawrence Taylor breaking Joe Theismann's leg.  Through all my years of following Giant football, watching ESPN classic, and general internet browsing I have never come across this clip before.  It was amazing, LT was a fiend.  I haven’t seen anything more disturbing on a football field.  The closest thing I can remember is watching Tim Krumrie in SuperBowl XXIII cleat on his left foot get caught in the grass while the rest of his leg spun nearly 180 degrees while tackling Roger CraigKrumrie after a 15-inch steel rod was surgically implanted to stabilize the leg, amazingly was ready by the next training camp and played 6 more years.  Theismann wasn’t so lucky as we remember, that hit ended his career (unless you count the brief stint in the CFL, Canadian Football League).  You can watch the clip in the football download section.

Speaking of, I mucked with them again creating a “Football” category.  I pushed all of the Terry Tate films there and the Raiders fan clip as well.

Also Happy Easter to all, it was a nice weekend up here in CT.  My mother laid out a nice spread for dinner then I got to stop by Matt and see how he was doing.

I leave you on this...LT on LT... "He's a cocky sumbitch. That's what makes him such a great player."
